‘I Choose Clean Air’ Eco Workout with a Champion and Health Run

Environmental Campaigns
22 May

The campaign took place as part of the Green Marathon and coincided with the 11th Nevsky International Ecological Congress.

Siberia–Arena Park hosted a vibrant family-oriented sports festival that brought together athletes, families with children, and active young people. Races for children and inclusive runs were held to ensure that everyone could participate.

The initiative was supported by employees from the Novosibirsk Region Ministry of Natural Resources, the company Spetsavtokhozyaystvo (SAKh), and volunteers from the regional chapter of the National Council for Corporate Volunteering (including representatives of West Siberian Railways and Novosibirskenergosbyt). The campaign is a prime example of synergy between business, government, and the public in addressing environmental issues. Such events not only foster an interest in sports, but also clearly demonstrate how temporarily using active modes of transport instead of private cars can reduce the burden on air quality.

“Novosibirsk once again demonstrated that we have many active and socially conscious people. Thank you to the organizers, volunteers, and all the participants who choose clean air and a healthy lifestyle,” Novosibirsk Region Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Yevgeny Shesternin said.

The annual nationwide ‘Choosing Clean Air’ campaign is a grassroots driver for the Clean Air Federal Project, which is part of the Environmental Well-Being National Project, and aims to promote healthy living, reduce emissions from private vehicles, and foster beneficial eco-friendly habits. The event was held under the auspices of the Nevsky International Ecological Congress, which provides guidance in terms of addressing critical environmental issues and shaping pathways for Russia’s sustainable development. The Congress is organized by the Russian government, the Russian Federation Council, the Interparliamentary Assembly of CIS Member Nations, and the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and is managed by the Roscongress Foundation.
