‘Meeting of Generations’ Educational Career Guidance Project of the ‘Poles of the Earth’ International Humanitarian and Educational Centre named after Artur Chilingarov (timed to coincide with Penguin Day)
Key themes of the project:
- ‘Penguins in Danger’
- ‘Penguin Records’
- ‘Geography and Ecology of Antarctica’
This project helped school students gain an understanding of the fragility of the Arctic ecosystem and the need to preserve it. They developed a sense of respect and care for Arctic and Antarctic wildlife, expanded their knowledge of the culture, traditions, and lifestyles of the Indigenous peoples of the North, and learned about their intrinsic connection to the Arctic and Antarctic natural environment. The participants examined real-world conservation initiatives and the work of environmental organizations, and learned about protected natural areas in Antarctica.
The project helped to enhance environmental awareness among the younger generation, generate interest in the North, support early career guidance for students, promote the development of eco-tourism in the Arctic and Antarctica, and deepen their understanding of the ecological, economic, and cultural features of the Arctic and Antarctica.
