Russian Natural Reserve Quiz as Part of Celebrations of Ecologist’s Day in Russia

In 2026, the Informational and Analytical Centre for Protected Areas Support (a federal state budgetary institution under the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment), in collaboration with the Russian State Library for Young Adults, prepared and hosted the Russian Nature Reserve Quiz to celebrate Ecologist’s Day on 5 June. More than 4,700 people took part in the quiz.

As part of the initiative, environmental education events were organized at 68 federally managed specially protected natural areas and 105 libraries. The annual Russian Nature Reserve Quiz consists of up to 20 questions that focus on Russia’s system of nature reserves and the unique features of its specially protected natural areas. The questions are also designed to test general knowledge and awareness about the country’s biodiversity, including information about animal and plant species listed in the Red Book, as well as measures for their protection and recovery.
