Eco Tours to Waste Processing Plants and Businesses of the National Corporate Volunteering Council in the Novosibirsk Region
Students from multiple Novosibirsk institutions visited the company 2GIS between 5 May and 2 June. The universities included Novosibirsk State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, Novosibirsk State Academy of Architecture and Fine Arts, Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University, the Siberian Institute of Management of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, Siberian State University of Water Transport, and Siberian State University of Geosystems and Technologies. The tours of 2GIS were organized as part of the 11th Nevsky International Ecological Congress.
During the visits, students learned how maps are created, how data is collected and processed, and also about new projects that are currently under development. The meeting was highlighted by a discussion about career opportunities at 2GIS. Company specialists shared information about internships and job openings available to students and young professionals. This provides a great opportunity for young people who wish to launch a career in IT, marketing, sales, or international business and join a team of professionals.
The students asked numerous questions and showed an interest in the company’s corporate culture, projects, and opportunities for professional growth. They received valuable advice on how to prepare for interviews and what factors to consider when choosing an employer.
“In addition to learning about the company’s history and the benefits of working or interning there, we saw firsthand how employees collect used batteries and bottle caps, sort waste, use electronic document management systems, and have completely eliminated disposable tableware and bottled water. There were also lots of plants in the offices, among other things. These may seem like simple details, but they are crucial for environmentally responsible facilities,” said Polina Pyatina, a second-year student majoring in Ecology and Nature Management at Siberian State University of Geosystems and Technologies.
The event was held under the auspices of the Nevsky International Ecological Congress, which provides guidance in terms of addressing critical environmental issues and shaping pathways for Russia’s sustainable development. The Congress is organized by the Russian government, the Russian Federation Council, the Interparliamentary Assembly of CIS Member Nations, and the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and is managed by the Roscongress Foundation.
